Sutter Coast Hospital
Emergency Department (ER) serves approximately 1800 patients per month. It is a designated California-Oregon Trauma
Center and EDAP certified (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics).
Sutter Coast Hospital Emergency Department is staffed with Board Certified Emergency Physicians, State-Licensed Physician
Assistants, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians Secretaries, Laboratory and Radiology Imaging professionals all experienced
in treating patients with emergency medical conditions. Patients seeking treatment in the Emergency Department are first triaged
and level of medical emergency is assessed and prioritized. Triaging is a process
that makes sure patients with the most serious needs are treated immediately. Less
serious medical conditions are tested, re-evaluated, and treated in order based upon the seriousness of all being treated
in the Emergency Department, including new arriving patients. The Emergency Department gives top priority treatment to Emergency
Ambulance arrivals 24 hours a day seven days a week. For this reason the Emergency Department is designated as an Emergency Trauma Treatment
Center and not intended to be utilized for simple non-emergency services which can
be obtained with less waiting at Sutter Coast
Rural Health Center
during normal daytime hours of operation.
Sutter Coast Rural Health Center (RHC) offers prompt treatment for non-life-threatening medical problems 7 days a week. Staffed by qualified, licensed
physician assistants, family nurse practitioners and nurses, RHC offers daily walk-in services as a convenient alternative
to the Emergency Room. RHC also known as “Urgent Care” is a portion
of Sutter Coast’s Emergency Department, treating those with urgent, but
less serious, non emergency conditions. RHC also provides weekly specialty clinics for patients with Medi-Cal coverage. Those without a primary care Doctor or are un-insured can also receive same day patient
care services. RHC patients are treated daily on a “First come first serve basis” in the order of arrival based
upon a sign-in sheet, no appointment necessary. Those seeking typical non-emergency
treatment at RHC can receive the same highly skilled professional services as in ER much more economically with less waiting.
Neither RHC nor the Emergency Department operate as a Physician Family Practice and are not available to the public as Primary
Care Physicians. For this reason all patients are encouraged to seek and obtain their own personal Primary Care Doctor. Sutter Coast Rural
Health Center is located in the Washington Square office building across the street from Sutter Coast Hospital
at 785 East Washington Blvd,
Crescent City, CA and is open daily from
9:45 am to 7:30 pm. Phone: 707-464-8818
